As a member of the Jeep Posse you may be asked to perform “Escort Duty” for the Sheriff at various public events such as parades. The Sheriff has tasked the Jeep Posse to perform this duty because the Sheriff knows that to be a Jeep Posse member you must be Q.A.P. (highest level of posse training) and your vehicle is properly equipped (lights, siren, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, flares, etc). In other words the Sheriff is confident that the Jeep Posse is properly equipped and mentally prepared to deal with any situation that may arise.
Our function during parades is to follow or shadow the Sheriff’s vehicle and be prepared to clear an escape path for the Sheriff and his team in case of an emergency. We also act as an extra set of eyes and ears, always watchful for anything suspicious that might pose a threat to the Sheriff. There is a great amount of pride in knowing that the Sheriff has selected you and your posse alone for this detail. This is one of the reasons that the Jeep Posse is also known as the “Go To Posse”.
The Jeep Posse also performs general escort and traffic control duties for various charity motorcycle runs, bicycle races, marathons, triathlons, etc. when called on by the Sheriff’s Office.
